Human Society Inspired Cognitive Radio Network Design
نویسنده
چکیده
Cognitive radio networks are expected to mitigate the spectrum scarcity problem by dynamically accessing any available spectrum in licensed and unlicensed bands. These networks are expected to be aware of the operating environment and learn to optimize their behavior accordingly. During this process they “evolve”, co-operate and compete with other networks, expect to receive rewards for their actions etc. We note that these features are inherent to human societies as well. In this article, we explore some of the fundamental connections between human societies and cognitive networks and give examples. This raises an open question: should cognitive radios behave like rational, utility maximizing economic agents or should they behave like individual human agents?

متن کاملSpectrum Assignment in Cognitive Radio Networks Using Fuzzy Logic Empowered Ants
The prevalent communications networks suffer from lack of spectrum and spectrum inefficiency. This has motivated researchers to develop cognitive radio (CR) as a smart and dynamic radio access promised solution. A major challenge to this new technology is how to make fair assignment of available spectrum to unlicensed users, particularly for smart grids communication. This paper introduces an i...

In this paper, we study WSN design, as a multi-objective optimization problem using GA technique. We study the effects of GA parameters including population size, selection and crossover method and mutation probability on the design. Choosing suitable parameters is a trade-off between different network criteria and characteristics. Type of deployment, effect of network size, radio communication...
متن کاملFirefly-inspired and robust time synchronization for cognitive radio ad hoc networks
Harnessing the full power of the paradigm-shifting cognitive radio ad hoc networks (CRAHNs) hinges on solving the problem of time synchronization between the radios on the different stages of the cognitive radio cycle. The dynamic network topology, the temporal and spatial variations in spectrum availability, and the distributed multi-hop architecture of CRAHNs mandate novel solutions to achiev...
